These stands are excellent. From materials to fit and finish the product is above and beyond for the price. I paired these with my JBL L830 speakers which are extremely large for rear speakers (15"X9"X13" and 22 lbs. each). The stands are excellent and very stable even without mass loading them (bb's, sand, or leadshot would work well). My only qualm with the stands is that the platform the speaker rests on is rather small compared with the base, but this isn't a big issue as it keeps the center of gravity for the stand itself lower.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

except for not having any type of cover for the top of the brass carpet spikes where they protrude through the base plate, these are ok stands. not as good looking as I thought from the pictures, but that's probably my fault.

This is a great stand and rock solid. But, the wire clips are useless if you have a decent gage speaker wire.

The cons with these stands are: the cable clips are for small diameter cables only- higher quality cables aren't accommodated; the carpet spikes work well and are attractive, but mean these stands won't work on non-carpeted floors. The pros are: they are sturdy and can be made even sturdier with space for sand and they're attractive.

Great product - a nice and rigid stand. Good fit and finish. One touch I especially appreciated is that the holes in the base plate that the spikes go into are threaded. This isn't something I usually find in this price range. It really allows you to get the spikes nice and tight. My only quibble is that the hole at the top of the column for sand-filling is quite small, which makes for a slow and somewhat messy fill, otherwise highly recommended!
