The holes on the back are not perfectly aligned, so the wires wouldn't fit perfectly through it, especially if they have bulky heads. But I made it work.

The instructions were confusing ... they weren't specific about which was the top and bottom of the lower piece and I had it half way assembled before I realized my mistake! By then I had cursed a few times because screws didn't match holes and other things weren't lining up. (I should have realized something wasn't right at that point...live and learn!)But it is a beautiful piece of furniture, very sturdy and worth the effort of putting it together.

The product was not too difficult to assemble but time consuming. I had a broken piece on mine and naturally it was one of the last pieces to go on. So I did not send it back. This is a very nice unit. Went together in about an hour, unlike some other pre-fab units I've purchased in the past the fit was just about perfect. The rubber wood has a very solid feel and the styling is nice as well. It's a perfect fit for our 50" Plasma TV. I'd recommend this TV stand without any reservations.

Overall, this product is great for the price. It is a bit shorter (floor to table-top height) than I expected, even knowing the dimensions of the unit. I should have used my tape measure to get a better visual of the unit in the room, but I am still happy with the purchase.

A couple of notes, however - the two shelves in the middle of the unit are NOT adjustable, and provide just BARELY enough height for two of my components - an older Sony STR-DE975 stereo receiver and a Sony 300 DVD changer. Literally - both of these units have less than 1/4" clearance from top of unit to underside of next shelf. This isn't great for major heat generators...hopefully I don't have long-term problems.

I also cut out nearly 100% of the back panel behind the center shelves - the two holes did not provide adequate opening for all of the cables, and the depth of the unit is a little short to allow room to fit the components AND have room for the cables to come out of the back without the components sticking out of the front. As it is, even with that modification, the DVD player still sits proud of the front about 1-1/2" (it's a DEEP unit).

All-in-all, I am happy with the unit. It will no doubt last me until I have the time (in a year or so) to actually build my own custom unit, and you can't touch the price with anything that looks decent with a more "old-fashioned" look.

this unit works great, but will not hold more than two units (tuner and dvd player) follow the directions and it is easy to put together.

I am a stay at home mom and was able to assemble this by myself, during my daughters nap. It is a heavy piece of furniture though, which I think is a plus. Ordering something off the internet I was worried it would seem cheap. This DOES NOT AT ALL. It is a very stylish piece that I reccomend! With as heavy as some of the pieces are, Ladies, you may want to wait for your husband.

Great piece,[...]. Only negative is that the *shabby* look is so minimal that it makes you wonder, almost, if it is supposed to be that way. But it is! And if you don't care for that look, you can easily cover the *flaws* with black marker.
