I knew there was trouble when the screws that connect the top and bottom plates to the legs kept turning with a manual screwdriver when bottomed out. Within two weeks the stands began to lean. They are being tasked with supporting 14.5 lbs of bookshelf type surround speakers. I used bigger screws (both length and diameter and glue after masking and sanding the paint from the MDF base and top plate. Also the paint rubs off on your hands (and carpet) out of the box. I am not impressed with these stands.

Used the pair for main L/R Ascend Speakers. Assembly is easy, as long as you look first and use common sense. Make sure you put the plastic pieces in the back before attaching the pole parts and leave space in the middle, top and bottom to pull wire up. \nThe stands look good, and blend into the background as they should. \nI used "Blue-Stick" from Lowe's to mount speakers on top - four sticks per stand at each corner of the top piece. This works well at keeping my Ascend Sierra-1 speakers safely on top.

The design of the stands is pretty much what I was looking for. However, the columns aren't cylindrical but elliptical once you apply the speaker wire covering. Also, the columns aren't so easy to attach to the bases. The holes aren't drilled large enough. Also have to be careful when tightening as you can split the wood. [...]. Replacement column also split but in reality it's hardly noticeable when you consider the price.

Good design, solid feel. Comes with speaker spikes and plastic feet for different flooring use. Speaker wire hides well behind stand column. Will take approximately 10 minutes per side to assemble, read instructions carefully to make sure you are using the right screws for each assembly.
