I'm very pleased with the side pier. It was a perfect fit next to the fireplace. We're using it as a component shelf and added a backing to hide the wires. The backing is painted the same color as the wall on one side and the other is a stain that matches the wood. It still maintains the illusion of an open shelf but hides the wires.
