This CD storage unit has enormous capacity, yet it does not seem imposing in my room. I found assembly to be easy and straight-forward. Alone I was able to put it together in less than 30 minutes. Because I was never going to disassemble the unit, I applied glue to all the dowels for added strength. They cleverly provided an extra cam-lock in case you break one (which I did by over tightening).
The shelves are easily adjustable. Spacing them for DVDs does restrict capacity quite a bit. I planned for the top section (there is a non-movable divider in the middle for strength) to be CDs and the bottom solely for DVDs, and that worked well for me. It still gives you storage for 500 CDs.
The finish was very nice as well, if you like the wood grain look. It seems very stable, but you could always screw it to a wall stud through the back panel if you wanted absolute stability.
The packaging is superb! This thing weighs a lot, and UPS can't help but bang it around in transit. However, it is double boxed, with protective stiffeners between the two cartons, so even with a fairly dramatic gash in the outer box, the inside was in perfect shape. Very smart!

After reading the reviews, I purchased this rack to store my collection of > 1500 CDs scattered throughout the house in various boxes, racks and drawers much to the annoyance of my wife. The rack took about 45 minutes to assemble with very clear instructions. Excellent workmanship and finish. After loading my CDs, I immediately purchased a second identical rack to store the remainder of my collection. My wife and kids are impressed with my "wall of sound" and I'm happy to have all of my collection in one place in a nice-looking and functional, solid rack.

I have a weakness for books and for Teaching Company courses, and it is very easy to accumulate more of this stuff than I have shelves for. The double-wide version of this piece fit exactly in a blank space of wall. I was a bit afraid that with the size and weight I would find it awkward to assemble single-handed, but it went together rapidly, and before the adjustable shelves were added it was not too heavy for me to manipulate.
For my purposes, I was able to put two pair of adjustable shelves above the fixed ones and two below. I did wish there had been a few more hole positions for the pegs -- it appeared there would have been space for three, not two, adjustable shelves in each open area, and then I would have had one more shelf for small paperback books. (The present set-up is exactly the right size for my Teaching Company courses.)

I ordered the stand January 10, and it was left leaning against my garage door about 8 days later. The outer packaging was damaged, but it was double-layered, so no damage inside.
This stand does hold a lot of stuff, but with a mixture of CDs and DVDs, it is a bit less efficient since the middle shelf on each side is fixed for stability. One unusually good feature about this rack is that the back slides in grooves in the wood and screws into already drilled holes instead of being nailed into the wood (which usually splits the wood).
Assembly was not too difficult, about the same as most DIY furniture. One tricky part is you have to tilt the shelf down (unless you have *very* high ceilings) to slide the back part in.
Is it real wood? Probably not. But it seems to be strong enough to hold the stuff (for a month, anyway), it looks nice, and it can hold a lot of stuff in a small space.
