This desk is something I have always wanted, a great place to pay bills work on hobbies and be a great room divider in a large bedroom / hobby room / office. When the add said "Some assembly required" though, it understated that by ABUNCH! It took my husband and I two days to get it all together. All the screws and bolts were there (a really good thing) and every one of the 600 pounds where there! It is indeed made of a heavy grade wood and particle board. But if you are going to be putting it together you will definately need help to hold the heavy peices in place while you screw them together. This is not a project for the infirm or feeble such as myself. But after the sweat and minor wounds from the screwdriver, I am very happy with it and the file drawer that I ordered with it. If the need ever comes up I would order another, such as if we sold the house and had another room that needed a desk, because this desk has found it's ONLY home. If we move it will be staying behind, it is just too big and heavy for us to want to try and move it to a different location. Thankfully we aren't planning to move anytime soon.

Service and delivery comments:

The delivery was abit different. The Desk came via UPS in one of their over the road semi rigs. The driver could not possibly make the corners to get to our house, so my husband took our pickup and met the UPS driver at the local [...]. Together they got it into the bed of our pickup and then we called some friends to help us get it into the house so we could preform the "Some assembly required".

I bought this piece for my apartment. First things first, I would definitely recommend that you have at least two other people helping you in carrying the boxes (two in number, one each for the desk and the hutch). I live on the second floor (no elevator) and the poor delivery guy was panting like he would have a heart attack. So finally I had him put it on the first floor and I took it up piece by piece. That was a pain. That being said, the instructions were pretty straightforward and now that the desk is assembled, it is awesome!! i would also definitely recommend using a power driver rather than trying to go for muscle power because you will find that you quickly get tired of turning screws. Using a power driver, I got the desk and hutch assembled in around 3 hours or so. The piece is extremely sturdy and is exactly what I was looking for, and definitely cheap considering the finish and overall look of the product.

For the money the Citizen L is a good desk. I purchased it with the hutch and the filing cabinet, which provides for plenty of storage space for files and desk accessories. Also the surface area is sufficient for two computer monitors, two phones, a printer and plenty of space leftover.

The two biggest drawbacks to the desk are it is big project to put together (and I enjoy building things by hand) and the surface of the desk scratches easily.

Overall, for the money, I am pleased with the Citizen L.
