We had one of those four-sided revolving media storage racks that held all of our stuff but took up too much space. I was going to purchase one of those highfalutin' expensive wall mount systems when I stumbled upon this unit.[...]and everything fits! My only concern is that it is a bit unstable but they include bracing straps that attach to the wall to prevent tipping.

Finally a media rack that is taller than my belt line. I liked the unit for the easily adjustable shelves for all my media; CDs, DVDs, paperback books, etc. Solid, adjustable feet allowed me to have it lean back tight against the wall where the safety strap will keep it from being pulled down. We live in a 3-D world, go higher, save floor space!

Contrary to other customer reviews, I found the unit very easy to assemble, but you do need a lot of room to do so(as the unit is ~7' tall)and you need to plan well from the start what you are going to store. I assembled my unit to hold part of an extensive DVD-only collection, and by using close shelf spacing, actually managed to surpass the unit's stated maximum 450-DVD spec by about 45 DVD cases. That's the unit's best feature, in my opinion: its economy of space. I live in an urban apartment, so the 7' of ceiling height I have, but floorspace is a different story. My configuration used only ten of the included twelve shelves, so I have two spares in the unlikely event of breakage.
I also like the contemporary-industrial styling; I'm a big fan of "form follows function" and inorganic design.
The sliding shelf media-retainers are pretty bad. One arrived already broken, which I didn't care about because my shelves were going to be full right from the outset, but I believe the breakage was indicative of an overall poor design. They are difficult to insert, don't hold particularly well, and it seems they could spring out spontaneously and become a projectile. Don't get me wrong, that has not happened, it's just a feeling I get. These retainers are a very small con compared to the pros.
I found the unit surprisingly sturdy considering its basically spindly construction; having paid particular attention to that attribute in other reviews, I was prepared for the worst. However, the unit's individually-height-adjustable footpads make it relatively easy to achieve stability on uneven floors like mine. The unit does exhibit a certain amount of sway no matter how well braced, so I wouldn't recommend freestanding it in the middle of the floor, but if you have at least one surface butted up to a solid wall and you don't anticipate knocking into it too often, it should prove satisfactory. I did not use the included "wall braces" which consist of a short length of nylon web belting and a screw/wall anchor. I imagine they might provide some small added measure of protection if you don't live in the Pacific Ring of Fire. Unit weight ~45lb. empty.
I liked this unit so much I bought a second after having my first for just a month. Highly recommended for the budget-minded with a large collection, limited space, and industrial aesthetic.

Was extremely easy to assemble, is very sturdy and attractive. You can adjust the shelves in 1" intervals making it extremely flexible for storing collections of different size media. Comes with metal bookends that clip to the shelves to hold up partial rows. This is a great solution for large collections!

I bought this multimedia rack to store my rather large and ever growing DVD collection. It looks nice and has lots of room for DVDs, CDs, video games, and etc. Very easy to assemble and does not take up too much space.

I was looking for an economical and efficient way to store my CDs. A lot of traditional CD stands waste a lot of space and just don't appeal to me aesthetically. The Max Steel rack stores an amazing amount of CDs in a relatively small space and is the easiest thing to assemble I have ever built. Being as tall as it is, it can feel a little unsteady. I would recommend using the anchor provided to attach to the wall if you are placing it on an unsteady surface. On hardwood floors, it seems stable enough, but carpet may be another story.

I have been on the search for a practical solution to organize and display my large cd collection. I have bought several urban/industrial style racks in the past, but this brand is superior to all prior purchases. The reason ... height! While any collector can reach to eye level, most manufacturer's are happy to settle at belly + 1 foot. The addeded levels allow for more efficient and effective storage!
Would recommend to all those who's collection has gotten out of hand!
