I found the design flimsy. This item definitely needs some kind of cross-bracing to hold top and bottom together—otherwise top and bottom sections threaten to split apart. I had to reinforce the entire structure before I felt secure that it was a solid piece.

It was hard to put together and broke in half when the back was being nailed on. It couldn't lay flat for this step as it has a bulge in the floor piece to keep it steady. Glue should have been recommended to aide in assembly.

Easy to put together but not very stable once it was. The top just sits on the bottom so it wobbles and the seam is obvious. With one shelf permanently in place and acting as support in the middle it was difficult to install the other shelves and make the height of each shelf consistent. \nFor the money I paid I expected something a little sturdier and nicer looking. Looks and acts like it is - cheap.

Good instructions and easy assembly. Functionally it works great, but the fit and finish is what you pay for. Some of the holes for the joints are not aligned causing a slightly askew look. Your experience may varry.

THE SHELF ARRIVES IN MANY PIECES, BUT INCLUDES VERY EASY DIRECTIONS (IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES TO PUT TOGETHER). TOP AND BOTTOM SECTIONS DID NOT MATCH UP PERFECTLY (DOWEL HOLES WERE PRE DRILLED A LITTLE OFF) WHICH MEANS 1 HALF (THE BOTTOM HALF) STICKS OUT A BIT. IT WORKS FOR WHAT WE NEEDED BUT LOOKS A LITTLE SLOPPY. OVERALL IT GETS THE EXTRA DVDS OFF THE TOP OF THE TV AND OUT OF THE WAY. IT YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT LITTLE MINOR FLAWS THIS SHELF WILL WORK FOR YOU.

so so product. first off, the pic shows the backing as black, but it's infact a matching oak to the rest of the unit. also the sides are 2 pieces instead of 1, and they don't line up flush, which brought my rating down. i thought they were each 1 piece. other than that, easy construction (took maybe 20 minutes to build), pretty decent quality, no damaged pieces, fairly stable, does come with a strap you can screw into a wall to stop it from tipping forward.\n\nmy only real dissapointments are not having the backing being black (doesn't match as well in my room now) and 2 piece side supports. aside from that, it's an $80 dvd/cd shelf. not a bad deal.
