The closed-in units are not suitable for the a home theater system due to the heat from all the components. I also wanted a unit that would allow me to put my center speaker on the floor beneath the unit. I elongated the legs on this unit )to about 7" clearance) with solid wood dowel [...] painted a deep cherry (purple, really) to match the wood and it worked out well.
